Kittens need their mother’s milk. However, once they are weaned, some cats are lactose intolerant because they do not have the enzymes to break down the sugar in milk, and cow’s milk can cause diarrhea and upset stomach.

If you do want to feed your cat milk, after you established that it is not lactose intolerant, small amounts of whole milk or branded milk for cats could be explored.  Or lactose free milk.

For a healthy cat, exercise, water, and nutritional food are essential and milk could be added supplementally.  Water should be available in two locations at all times to main proper  hydration.

Does it always mean that your cat is content and happy? While purring, most of the time, means your cat is happy and your love is being appreciated, cats can also purr if they are stressed, in pain, or in a fearful situation.

Because of the range—20-50 hertz anabolic range-- it is felt that  vibrations from the purring at selected frequency ranges can cause healing and contribute to bone growth, healing fractures, and pain relief.

The purr appears to come from inhaling and exhaling and vibrating the larynx and the diaphragm.  Research is still underway to fully explain the mechanics and implications of purring.

Cat’s eye pupils dilate more due to the number of rods and a reflective area in the back of the eye which allows more light in allowing  them to see better in semi-dark situations.  However, at dusk they appear to see only black, white, and gray while during the day they can see a broader range of colors.

Why do cats like catnip? Native to America, catnip is a wild mint. Cats attraction to catnip  is inherited (not all cats are attracted) and can cause cat euphoria. Catnip is normally inhaled by cats versus eating it, although it is felt to be non-toxic and excess consumption could result in diarrhea or vomiting which should go away. Freezing catnip works if you plan to use it at a later date.
