Bird's Eyes -Red, Cloudy, Discharge

Bird - Red or cloudy eyes or discharge coming from eyes some birds have red irises which is normal, however, if your bird has swollen red eyes, it could have conjunctivitis and reflect a respiratory problem and in cockatiels it could be bacterial conjunctivitis which has a discharge and swelling.   Blepharitis is inflammation of the eyelid.   Avian poxvirus can result in shut eyes and conjunctivitis and in cockatoos and macaws (rubbing eyes) it could be parasites which are conjunctival worms in the eyelids. There are drugs which can address these conditions. It could also reflect malnutrition and sinusitis or other viruses or infections (eg. psittcosis).
